Fatal accident on Smock Bridge in Meadville

A Hartstown woman is killed Saturday afternoon in a head-on collision with a man driving the wrong way on the Smock Bridge in Meadville.  Police say the man, who was heading west, crossed over a grassy median and into the eastbound lane of Route 322 before colliding with a vehicle driven by 77-year-old Dorothy Miller, of Hartstown.

The man driving the other vehicle, 40-year-old Edward Herrick, of Meadville, was taken to UPMC Hamot in Erie.

The crash resulted in much of 322 being closed for about an hour.

The accident is currently under investigation.
